Our Story / Why GÜTE
Hard to pronounce ingredients. No time to look them up at the aisle. We felt that — and we also happened to know exactly what those ingredients were.
The Problem
You're at the shopping aisle. You're craving something. You pick up a bar, flip it over — and the ingredient list is a paragraph of things you can't pronounce. Who has time to look all that up while you're just trying to grab a snack?
We know that feeling. Except we also spent 20 years working in food — reading labels, tracing supply chains, writing food safety plans. We know what those ingredients are. We know why they're in there. And a lot of the time, the answer isn't a good one.
That's the thing about being a food safety professional. You stop being able to eat without thinking about it. We found ourselves turning over our favorite snacks and not loving what we found — and eventually deciding to do something about it.
Who We Are
We're Li and Benson — two health-conscious foodies with a combined 20 years in the food industry, a shared obsession with what's actually in our food, and apparently the same idea at the same time.
Co-Founder
Background in nutrition science, food science, and food safety. The combination that lets you see both sides of a label — what it says, and what it means. Passionate about food that's genuinely good for you, not just marketed that way.
Co-Founder
Studied environmental science, stumbled into food safety, and never left. The systems thinking that comes from environmental work maps perfectly onto food — traceability, upstream impact, what's actually in things and where it came from.
Why GÜTE
We wanted a name that meant something. Not a made-up word or a lifestyle-coded acronym — something that actually said what we were trying to do.
German — "Good"
Good ingredients. Good process. Good for you. Good for the planet. One word that covers the whole thing — and signals quality without having to explain itself.
The function — Gut Health
Gut is right there in the name. That wasn't an accident. Our product is designed from the core up to be good for your gut — real fiber, real ingredients, nothing your body has to fight through to get to the good stuff.
"Dietary fiber feeds your microbiome and helps keep things moving on the regular, but most of us aren't getting nearly enough of this unsung nutrient."— Stanford Medicine
That's the gap we set out to close. We wanted to build something that tastes good while nourishing your gut — delivering an essential nutrient as an indulgent experience, not a medicinal one. Fiber in a form you'll actually reach for.
What We Built
GÜTE Crunch is where we started. A functional snack bar built on an ancient grain and plant protein core, dusted in whole blueberry powder, finished in dark chocolate. Every ingredient is there because it earns its spot — not because it's cheap, not to hit a number on the label, and not because a flavor house recommended it.
We're a small-batch, artisanal operation. That's not a constraint we're working around — it's how we keep the standard honest while we're getting started.
Seven ancient grains & seeds, dual plant-based protein, five dietary fibers. Every one verified by two people who read labels for a living.
Natural fiber from fruits, grains & seeds — plus green banana flour, cassava fiber, acacia fiber, oat bran fiber, and psyllium husk. A fiber stack that actually does something.
Pea and rice protein together — a more complete amino acid profile than either alone. No dairy, no whey, no isolate shortcuts.
Whole lemon, blueberry, and cranberry — freeze-dried to a powder and dusted on before enrobing. Real fruit, not flavoring.
